3-Stage FRP Water Pre-treatment System — Product Description and Function
Product Overview
A 3-Stage FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) Water Pre-treatment System is a robust, corrosion-resistant filtration setup designed to condition raw water before it enters a primary purification unit, such as a Reverse Osmosis (RO) or Ultrafiltration (UF) system.
The system utilizes FRP pressure vessels (tanks), which are lightweight, highly durable, and resistant to corrosion and chemical degradation. The entire system is typically integrated with an automatic control valve (e.g., electronic or hydraulic) to manage backwashing, rinsing, and operational cycles automatically.
The Three Stages (Standard Configuration)
1. Stage 1: FRP Quartz Sand Filter
◦ Media: Graded quartz sand.
◦ Function: Acts as a primary mechanical filter. It removes large suspended solids, sediment, rust, silt, and turbidity from the raw water. This stage protects downstream equipment from physical abrasion and particulate fouling.
2. Stage 2: FRP Activated Carbon Filter
◦ Media: High-quality granular or coconut shell activated carbon.
◦ Function: Removes residual chlorine, organic compounds, color, and odor. Crucially, it protects the downstream RO membrane (which is easily damaged by oxidizing agents like chlorine) and improves the taste of the final water.
3. Stage 3: FRP Water Softener (Ion Exchange)
◦ Media: Strong acid cation exchange resin.
◦ Function: Removes calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions (hardness) from the water. By softening the water, it prevents scale formation (calcium carbonate) on the surface of the RO membranes, which would otherwise cause severe flux decline and membrane damage.
